- CSIL funds come from a separate budget [this is in fact incorrect]; truth being the CSIL funds are still all part of the same home support budget in each health authority.
- Waitlist for the CSIL Program [this is in fact incorrect]. It’s a core program so there is no waitlist, the program is assessed by need.
- Very few case managers have CSIL clients, as such their knowledge of the CSIL program is very limited – that said, case managers are becoming more familiar so in turn the program is becoming more recognized.
- Some case managers are under the impression that once you are approved for Home Support hours you must be on Agency services for a period of time before applying for CSIL – this is incorrect information. Once you are approved for Home Support hours you can choose to go on the CSIL program immediately.
- No cap on funds but resources are tight. There are four types of need/criteria that will be reviewed throughout subsequent videos.

Video 8: CSIL 3 Basic Options

- The direct employer – CSIL Phase I, consumer is able to direct own care and handle staff, payroll, shifts/scheduling, is able to ask for assistance when needed.
- The Client Support Group [CSG] is strictly for home support needs and nothing else. CSG is different than a Micro-Board System, in that it [takes in ALL aspects of your life]. Both systems hire 5 people [min] as a client ‘non-profit society’ to help manage your supports.
- Representation Agreements – allows consumer to designate someone to manage for him/her at the times when they are not able to. They can manage all aspects of your health, your finances. Nidus Planning & Resource Centre. ALL CSIL employers can have a Rep Agreement.
